Your Perks

No matter which donation level or card you choose, you'll get the same benefits. It could be anything from a free slice of cake at Sticky Bits Cafe, to an exclusive offer from one of our sponsors, like money off gig tickets. We can't be too precise, because we plan on bringing you the best we can, but we'll always offer you something in return for your generosity!

Our Membership Programme is based on the 'instant karma' model, by bringing together members and sponsors in a mutually beneficial way, we aim to make your donation to us, something which gives back to everyone who joins. We give sponsors both good PR and free advertising to our members (we handle it and keep your personal details safe). In exchange members get access to those perks, discounts and freebies; but most importantly from businesses and organisations that actively embrace the LGBT+ community.

A bit more detail

Our Membership Programme is designed to bring together individuals and organisations, in a mutually beneficial way. All donations are used to pay for things that we can't do with other kinds of funding. The cards and signs we provide are free but these items need to be to produced and so a minimum donation is required to justify their expense.

A card typically costs 10% of the requested donation, if claimed online or 5% over the counter at Sticky Bits Cafe.

  • Can I give a card to someone else or loan mine to them? Yes, that sounds reasonable to us. The card entitles the bearer to any offer, as it is advertised on our member offers page (individual terms and conditions apply).
  • Where can I find out about the current members only offers? In our email newsletters, on the member offers page of this website or at Sticky Bits Cafe (where you'll also find some kind of special offer right away, like free cake!).
  • How long is a card valid for? At least 1 year from the date of production. We will release a new design to celebrate each annual Cumbria Pride Event and it will not expire until several months after the next year's issue.
  • Who can become a supporter? Any individual or organisation that agrees to the 'LGBThq Partner Principles' and who provide at least one exclusive offer to our members (businesses) or who act as an out-reach partner (institutions).
  • Can anything be offered to members? Almost, but not quite. We'll approve them before publication and anything that is seen to compete with our own fund-raising efforts or act against our Partner Principles may be rejected.
  • Who can become a sponsor? Any organisation with a published LGBT+ Diversity Policy, once confirmed by us to be both 'active' and 'effective', they will become an 'LGBThq Approved' institution and sponsorship partner.
  • Is this how Cumbria Pride is sponsored? No, this is for inclusion in the LGBThq Members programme. Sponsorship of events such as Pride, groups such as PiNC and facilities such as Sticky Bits Cafe, are not included.
  • Can a membership card or sponsor/supporter status be withdrawn? If an individual or organisation acts against the 'LGBThq Partner Principles', we may choose to investigate and if necessary withdraw them from the programme.
  • Do sponsors get access to members details? Absolutely not. We will publicise genuine special offers to our members for them, but we will never give away, sell or release personal infomation to a third party (unless legally required to do so).
  • Will you accept another cafe as a supporter? Yes we'd love it, but obviously we need to protect and promote Sticky Bits Cafe, it's absolutely essential to us as a hub for our fund-raising activities and an important resource for vulnerable people. This means that we won't be able to advertise offers that will directly compete (so if we're closed or don't do it, it's cool). You can also join our out-reach network, our 'Accepted Here' signs mean so much more than special offers.

This is just an ideas page, for a proposed prject and a rough one at that. It's not linked to anything.

I'm thinking that this could be primarily an annual 'go fund me' type online campaign/publicity event, but also having it available all year round on the LGBThq website and 'over the counter' at Sticky Bits... Possibly?
