LGBThq Centre Relaunch
Cumbria's LGBThq will relaunch on 31st March 2017.
We've grown, so we moved to a better home and now it's time to re-open our LGBT+ Community and Information Centre at our new address: LGBThq, 21 Victoria Place, Carlisle, CA1 1EJ
We'll be inviting friends and supporters to an official relaunch event on Friday 31st March and will open to the general public on Saturday at 12pm.
Since 2013 the LGBThq has served Cumbria's LGBT+ community, by helping to grow our 6 day a week health, advice, counselling, campaigning, social and support services. Provided by Cumbria Pride, PiNC LGBT+ Youth, Sticky Bits CIC, AntiBullying Campaign, 3rd Party Hate Crime Reporting Centre and Mentoring Project; along with other charities, agencies, community groups and initiatives.
Our new home will provide some great benefits to our charities, the services we provide and all those who rely upon them.
- Improved access with fewer stairs
- A more prominent city centre location
- Closer to the main bus and train stations
- More comfortable home with a better layout
- Extra space for partner organisations
- Lower running costs and better value
LGBThq is not only a unique venue in Cumbria, but it is one of the few drop-in community centres of it's kind, in the whole of the UK.
We've pioneered a combined multi-charity and multi-agency approach to supporting lesbian, gay, bi, trans, intersex, queer, asexual and all other people in Cumbria. With our new facilities, we'll be expanding our services, to effectively tackle issues facing our community in the years to come.
The old building on Fisher Street closed on Saturday 28th January.
